![]() ![]() TRON is an old friend to me - but remains one of the best ones.23. At the end of the day - for each of us in "our" timelines, it will be the writing that sticks with us the most. Other moments for me were films like Jurassic Park and most recently Avatar. Realize, too, that with TRON we were blown away by what for its day was IT in special effects by computer. With TRON, the BluRay is great, but the standard DVD is more true to the film as it was "back in my day". Both are awesome and both are must-haves in any collection. Legacys' storyline is the weaker of the two, but its' effects do for it what TRONs' writing does for that film. ![]() My main concern was one of storylines - how would TRON stack-up against Legacy? I have to say that what may look a bit dat ed effects-wise in TRON is more than compensated for by the writing. Yes, there is a place in my mind where I'd say "Ugh - some of these effects" but the experience is no less intense and satisfying as it was back in the "Good Old Days". Watching TRON now, I felt the same wonder and joy as I experienced this digital world. Coming away, I thought "How will "my" old Tron stand up after seeing all of that state-of-the art eye candy?" I have to report that it does just fine - even after all of the years having gone by. I recently watched Tron: Legacy and really liked it. I have been blessed to be just the right age to have "been there" for some of the great moments in our culture - at least movie and "fad"-wise. ![]()
